Barlight began to shine in 2015 when Bundaberg based musicians Kane and Paula Gray developed their own musical partnership fuelled by their common taste in music and the occasional Bundaberg beverage. Paula and Kane are no strangers to the live music scene, having graced many stages including pubs, clubs and large outdoor concerts over the past 20 years. With wide musical influence, their repertoire includes proven crowd pleasers from country through to classic rock.
Kane and Paula both grew up on the land and spent their earlier days performing in country music clubs throughout Queensland and NSW. In 1997 Kane joined a Brisbane based country rock band which played extensively throughout Queensland including Pro Rodeo finals, Chinchilla Melon Festival and a tour to Papua New Guinea. In 1998, Kane attended the Academy of Country Music in Tamworth. In 2004, Paula and Kane joined up with their good friend Rob Coleman in the country rock band “Country Shadows’’ and performed extensively throughout Queensland for almost 10 years. Some of their highlights include performances at Mud Bulls and Music and opening spots for a number of well-known Australian artists.
Some of Barlights highlights to date include playing alongside golden guitar winners Evelyn Bury and Justin Standly for the Bundaberg Relay for Life Concerts in 2016-17, supporting Phoebe Jay on the main stage at the Gympie Muster in 2016 and performing at Brewfest in 2017.
Aside from singing popular cover songs, Barlight have also written a number of their own catchy original songs which are in the process of being recorded. Original songs will be available through this website and by request during their live shows.
